Enormous Radio

The story is based on a couple who seems perfect from the outside but deep down inside they’ve some unsolved matters between them. The situation itselfs represents the silence before the storm. Once the radio starting to invade their home, Irene got caught listenning the private conversations of their neighbours. Due to their monotonous social life, she tries to find the excitement ,that lacks in her personal relationship with her husband, outside her marriage. By that, a whole new world became avaliable for Irene and that makes her the potential addict for spying on their neighbours.
Back in those days, the radio was the ultimate media portal of the the world and it was a necessity for the homes. We see the effects of media in a much more primitive manner but it’s still have a serious damage on people’s daily lifes. With acces to the whole appartement, Irene became addicted to the the lifes of the residents. Towards the end of the story, she is almost living the exact same moments with her neigbours and she actually started to worry about their daily problems. But suprisingly she collide with those kind of problems with her husband. It was the right moment for them to realise that they were not the perfect couple and they could have the exact same problems like their neighbours.

Your comment about the effect of media is very well represented in the story as you note. It is the same type of obsession that people have with shows on tv today.
